Following his excellent debut season, the Norwood Flames are delighted to announce the re-signing of Trey McBride for the 2023 campaign.
McBride is coming off a stellar 2022 NBL1 season in which he averaged 15.9 points per game, 4.4 rebounds per game, 2.6 assists per game, and 2.8 steals per game. He also shot 48% from the field and 30% from beyond the arc.
A 26-year-old guard, he was the runner-up for the NBL1 Central Defensive Player of the Year award.
He currently plays for Itzehoe in Germany’s Pro B league but will join his Norwood teammates shortly.
Norwood’s NBL1 GM, Will Smith, said,
“We signed Trey the day after the season ended. We knew he was going to Germany within 48 hours of our last game and we just had to have him. The work ethic, culture, and character he brings to the group are just phenomenal. As well as being a high-level player, he’s probably even more important with the character he brings to the group. He works hard, plays hard, and sets a standard we want all players to follow”.
Head Coach, Tim Odell, was also buoyed by his return,
“Resigning Trey was a priority and I’m stoked to have him back. He means a lot to us both on and off the court. I’m excited to see what he can do in year 2!”
Norwood’s season begins with a Round 1 clash against Sturt.
