Mitch Dix, a 6’8 big-man, has signed for the NBL1 season 2022.
Dix, a club junior, returned to play Under 21’s last year and has impressed. In 2021, in the 21’s he averaged 11ppg, 9rp, 51%FG and 1.5apg. He also added a 3pt shot to his game, hitting 5 in 11 games at 33%.
His enthusiasm, passion, intensity, and hard work are all huge culture building characteristics that he brings to the team in both training and games.
Coach Tim Odell echoed these sentiments:
“Mitch’s personality and character on and off the floor fit perfectly with our core values. Being another key part of our young core, I’m excited to see him continue to develop his game and to help build our culture.”
A big frame, Mitch has a presence on the court at both ends of the floor. A constant communicator, he keeps the group engaged, focused and together.
Mitch will look to back-up our Import big, Anthony Green. The two already are battling hard at practice. Anthony also has taken a mentor role to Mitch, as he gives him tips and constant pointers in practice about playing the ‘5’.
Mitch expressed his usual passion in articulating his feelings about this season:
“I’m very excited to be back at the flames. I love this group of boys and the energy they bring every time they hit the court. I can’t to see what the future holds and am very excited to be on the court in the blue and red???”
Mitch is also involved in the junior program, as assistant coach with the Under 16 Division 1 Boys team. This helps bring more links between the junior and senior programs as NBL1 Head Coach Tim Odell also Coaches the U16 D1 Boys and leads the U16 Program.
The NBL1 season tips off on April 9th, as the Flames host the Panthers at the Arc.
Tickets will be on-sale soon.
