The Norwood Flames Women’s team would like to announce the re-signing of Captain Genna Anderson for the 2022 season.
Anderson had this to say:
“The 2021 season was one that had an unfortunate ending but has only made myself and the team more eager to get to work and start the 2022 season how we finished 2021. It’s a great team and I’m excited and thankful to be a part of it for 2022.”
Genna, 27 years old, averaged 16.7ppg, 9.5rpg in NBL1 2021; including a season-high 35 points against Sturt in round 7.
Anderson plays both forward positions and is a passionate, hard-working and highly competitive leader of the group.
She was instrumental in her on-court leadership helping the team reverse a 3-6 start to the season, to finish the 2nd half strong, going 7-2.
The highlight of the season was beating a previously undefeated Southern Tigers team at the Arc in round 14.
With Genna announced as a signing, it lays the foundation for the roster, which will continue to be confirmed with signings in the coming weeks.
Coach Terry McNamara said “I’m super excited to have our Captain, GA, back for 2022, she is the heart and soul of our team. She leads the girls on and off the floor, works hard and leads by example. She’s an integral piece of our group”.
Norwood would also like to thank Genna’s sponsor for 2021, the ACBA, for their support for her and the team this past season. ACBA is the largest and best domestic junior basketball competition in the state for beginners to advanced.
If you would like to sponsor Genna in season 2022 or any other players- please contact NBL1 GM, Will Smith, at will@norwoodbasketball.com.au
The Coles Express NBL1 2022 start date is yet to be announced, but pre-season is looming while players begin their off-season player development sessions.
