Trey McBride, a 6’2 combo guard from Cincinnati, Ohio, has signed on with the Norwood NBL1 team for 2022!
Trey last played in Serbia’s top division for KK Radnički. He then spent time with the Toronto Raptors 905 G-League team during their pre-season.
McBride played NCAA Division II basketball for Northwood in Michigan. During his collegiate career, Trey averaged 13ppg in the GLIAC Conference. He was a 3x times all defensive team award winner, made the All-Second team two times and was once in the All-Tournament team. Trey also scored 1000 college career points.
Trey is taking it all in his stride since joining the squad:
“I’m excited for this upcoming season, Norwood has a great group of guys this year and I can’t wait to step on the floor with this team.”
You may also think Trey looks familiar, that’s because his younger brother, Miles, currently plays for the New York Knicks and was drafted in the 2nd round out of West Viriginia.
The McBride family has a rich history in basketball, with Walt Snr having coached High School basketball for 10 years in Ohio. Before that, Walt played at Xavier and played overseas in Germany for 10 years.
In practice so far, it’s evident that Trey has a great understanding of the game and will also look to impart some of that to the broader community as he will Coach Norwood Junior teams, ACBA camps and school clinics in the local area.
Coach Odell has been really impressed with Trey’s impact so far:
“We’re extremely excited to have Trey onboard. His athleticism gives us another dimension and he’ll be a fun player to watch. I can’t wait to see him make an impact on the league.”
Come and watch Trey and the Flames at The ARC this season – tickets available through Intix or at the door.
