Shaun Pontifex has re-signed for his eighth season with the Flames in 2023.
In 2022, Pontifex was used in a pinch-hitter role off the bench as a shooter.
His ability to score quickly was seen in an away game at the Eastern Mavericks when he scored a season-high 17 points and made five three-pointers.
Pontifex has also stepped up from a coaching standpoint, taking on an important role and leading our U16 Boys Division 1 team.
Head Coach Tim Odell praised the veteran’s knowledge of the game and is delighted to have him back in the squad,
“Ponti has one of the highest IQ’s going around and means a lot to our program, both on and off the floor. I’m looking forward to seeing him take on more of a leadership role this year.”
The group has a lot to learn, and Pontifex has lots of experience to impart to them as they keep developing for the future.
Embracing the fresh line-up, Pontifex is eagerly awaiting the 2023 season,
“We have a lot of new faces this year, which brings a new look and an exciting culture to be a part of. I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve this year.”
