6’3 Forward-Centre with WNBL experience, Demi Skinner has signed for the 2023 NBL1 season.
Norwood welcomes another huge signing in our Women’s team with Demi Skinner.
Demi has 3 years of WNBL experience and coming off a 2022 NBL1 Central season for which she averaged 22ppg and 6.5rpg for the Southern Tigers.
A 6’3 big, Demi easily slides between the 4 and 5 spots as she has a modern skillset that can take bigger players outside to shoot from the perimeter, or can post up inside against smaller players.
Having joined the squad a few weeks ago, this is already evident in trainings as she uses her size, length and strength to get to her spots for shots.
Also a high IQ player, she has integrated seamlessly with the squad so far, picking up our structures and game style well and also beginning to impart her experience and knowledge on the younger squad members.
Demi described her excitement for the year ahead,
“I’m really excited to see what the season holds for us, it’s only been a short time personally at Norwood but I’m already loving it and the group are nothing but legends.”
NBL1 GM Will Smith has also seen the impact she is having,
“Demi brings us so much more versatility offensively- she can go outside and shoot the 3 at a high clip and also has an array of post moves she can use inside, depending on her matchup. She also uses the nuances of the game in a really adept way. Her body positioning, use of angles and feel for the game are exactly what we need. I can see her complimenting the playing group perfectly”.
More big signings will be announced soon as both the Men’s and Women’s teams are working to finalise their rosters.
Games tip off on Sunday, March 26th, as the Flames will host the Sturt Sabres at the Arc.
