Anthony Green is back for the 2022 NBL1 season with the Norwood Flames!
A 6’10 Centre from Quincy, Massachusetts, Anthony played 4 years of Division 1 NCAA with the North Eastern Huskies under Coach Bill Coen.
In his first year in Australia, Anthony averaged 11.4ppg, 8.2rpg and 1.5 blocks per game.
He had a season high of 21 points against Southern.
The first half of the season was bumpy for Anthony, as he got used to the different style of play here and his teammates. But by the 2nd half of the season, big AG found his feet and you could find him regularly in the national top 10 plays of the week.
Anthony was positive about the upcoming season:
“I’m excited to be back for another year, also I’m excited for what Norwood as a team and club have to offer after last season making it to grand final!”
With Anthony locked in as a big who dominates the paint, Coach Tim Odell is looking at making him more of a focal point of the offence and giving him opportunities to show more of what he can do:
“I couldn’t be happier to have Anthony continue for 2022, he will be a crucial key to our success. Aside from being our defensive anchor, we are excited to see him take on more responsibility offensively. The sky’s the limit for him.”
NBL1 GM Will Smith also sees what role AG can play:
“Anthony gave us exactly what we needed as a key-way presence. He protects the hoop as good as anyone in NBL1 and puts a lot of pressure on the opposing team’s rim, as he attacks it with as much ferocity as we have seen in NBL1 Central in a long time. With our roster in 2022, we see Anthony being an even bigger focal point and a dominant force on both ends”.
Now more accustomed to the Aussie culture, AG is really enjoying himself in the community and exploring the surrounds of Adelaide.
Anthony will also continue his coaching in the community, helping out with our Junior Programs.
The season tips off in April, with the group in full pre-season mode.
