NBL1 Round 11 vs Sturt Sabres
NBL1 Central Round 11 pits the Norwood Flames against the Sturt Sabres in 2 heavy hitting matchups.
The Paradise Hotel Norwood Flames Women got the better of the Sabres in their first matchup behind Maddy Hinton’s 20pts and Cali Clarks dominance on the boards. Since that matchup in round 7 the Flames have only gotten stronger adding Alysyn Becki and continuing to gel as a group.
The Sabres are currently sitting 2nd on the ladder led by outstanding play from Tayla Brazel who leads the Sabres in points, rebounds and assists. It is not a one women show for the Sabres as they have recieved valuable contributions from up and down their roster, with 4 double-digit scorers and a squad full of great shooters they can keep up with any offence. They don’t have to do too much offensively though as their defence is the strongest in NBL1 Central.
For the South Ave Norwood Flames Men, they lost in heartbreaking fashion in overtime against the Sabres. Sturt has added DJ Vasiljevic from the NZ Breakers to an already strong lineup to try and solidify themselves as championship favourites. Meanwhile the Flames are coming into their own and starting to push for a Finals position as we come into the last stretch of the season. Led by import Thomas Kurowksi the Flames have taken it to every team they’ve faced this season and have a chance to win every night.
Be sure to head down to the ARC to cheer on your teams and push for our Flames to get 2 big wins!
