Esther Scharfbillig has signed on for NBL1 2022 with the Flames!
A first year U18’s player, Esther plays the post as aggressive as anyone.
Coming from a netball background, her read on getting steals and deflections in the passing lanes is elite. She also battles hard in the post and rebounding battles constantly.
Having just come into the 18’s program, Esther has kept on working hard to improve herself over the previous months as she has been training with the NBL1 squad.
Getting used to the new systems and plays has been a great learning opportunity for Esther and she has already begun pushing limits and finding new elements to her game.
Coach McNamara noted where Esther is at in her career:
“Esther is a promising player from our Flames junior development system. She is a natural competitor with a strong appetite for the contest. A natural left hander, Esther provides versatility and balance in our offensive systems.”
Esther kept it simple in her expectations for the season ahead:
“I am excited about the season and looking forward to improve my skills with a great team.”
Also a solid defensive player, Esther will continue to learn from the other bigs in the NBL1 program; Alek Akuen and Tara Girardi.
Game 1 tips off on April 9th at The ARC, as the Flames open their season with a tough battle with the South Adelaide Panthers.
