Welcoming our Board Directors and Chairperson
EOI for Sub Committees and Membership
Following our recently held Annual General meeting Norwood Basketball Club would like to announce our board members who were elected, filled casual vacancies, and are continuing in their roles for 2022 and beyond.
We would like to take this opportunity to welcome and re-introduce them as they will no doubt bring new and fresh ideas to add to our solid foundation.
Phil Keenihan – General Director
Phil has been part of the Norwood basketball club for over 15 years both as a coach and board member.
Serving on the board for 10 years he has been involved with the strategic growth of the club during this period and now looks forward to working on this board to continue the club’s community involvement.
Rolf Scharfbillig – General Director
Rolf has many years’ experience with boards and committees and looks forward to working with the other directors to consolidate processes and the strategic direction of the club, building on the great foundations that have been laid.
Troy Thomson – ACBA Director
Troy has served on several boards developing a practical understanding of governance and strategy, undertaking business reviews, and forming improvement strategies.
He looks forward to bringing a mindset and experience that will allow us to consolidate strengths and explore areas for development, explore opportunities to improve processes, transparency, communication and engage stakeholders & committees where required in a consultative manner to further grow the club.
Andrew McPhail – ACBA Director
Andrew has leadership and business management experience and is currently a General Manager at Santos Limited. Andrew played junior and senior district basketball to NBL1 equivalent level, has coached junior teams and been a referee.
He understands the importance of the sport and the role our club holds in shaping individuals and future leaders and will make a valuable contribution to the board in the areas of governance, strategic planning, financial and risk management, decision making, communication and engagement with stakeholders.
Kelly O’Brien – Membership Director
Kelly is an Optometrist and owns an independent practice in Murray Bridge. She comes from a background of playing high level netball. Her strengths lie in communication and working with people to achieve positive outcomes.
Appointed Club Chairperson
Kelly O’ Brien has been appointed as our new Club Chairperson and we are excited for her to lead the board as we continue our success. She has previously been a board director for 2 years and after working closely with the previous Chairperson, Chris Webber and our Membership Protection Committee over the last year, she will no doubt be instrumental in continuing to promote and advance the club and sport.
Norwood Basketball Club Financial Membership

As with every sporting association our club is no different and heavily relies upon help from volunteers. We are very grateful for our current team, who go above and beyond, however we are always looking to grow the numbers and share the load. Appointed Directors
Norwood Basketball Club Constitution allows for up to 2 (two) Appointed Directors. If you are interested in applying to become an Appointed Director, please email your nomination to secretary@norwoodbasketball.com.au
Nominations must contain the following and be received prior to Friday 24th June 2022.
- Disclosure of all current positions at the club (office, participant, coach, volunteer etc)
- Copy of your CV
- Candidate statement (250 words max)
