Dear Coaches, Team Managers, Caregivers and Players,
Last weekend our junior division 1 and 2 teams competed in the 2024 State Championships, and I wanted to say a massive thank you to all our players, coaches, team managers and supporters for how we conducted ourselves on and off the court
I would also like to say a few congratulations:
– Firstly congratulations to all teams that competed over this massive weekend of basketball.
– Congratulations to the U16 Girls and U12 Girls Team 3 who qulaified into the reserve’s competition.
– Congratulations to all 13 teams that made it through to the Semi Finals. U14 Girls State and U16 Girls Reserve 2 were unlucky to miss out on a 3-way tie after only losing one minor round game.
– Congratulations to the 6 teams that have qualified for the National Junior Classics to be held in Victoria in June.
– Congratulations to the U14 Boys who have qualified for the U14 Nationals to be held in Victoria in September.
– Congratulations to the U14 Boys State, U14 Girls Reserve, U16 Girls State and U16 Girls Reserve who all made it through to the Grand Final.
– Congratulations to the U12 Girls State and the U16 Boys State for winning their Grand Finals. A very special congratulations to U12 Girls Reserve 2 who won their Grand Final after gaining entree from division 3.
Due to such amazing performances from our teams, we were named “State Girls Champion” and “State Club Champion”. We also finished top 3 in all but one of the four other categories including runner up in “State Boys Champion” and “Reserve Girls Champion” and third in “Overall Reserves Club”.
Thank you to all our amazing coaches for the time and effort they put in, not just this weekend, but in the lead up as well.
And finally a very special thank you to Will Smith and Karen Glazbrook along with the admin team who ensured that everything ran smoothly behind the scenes. This is our fourth consecutive overall state champion title which is a credit to our exceptional junior program.
We now look forward to more basketball with Nunawading and Classics around the corner and the South City Challenge and Adelaide Mid Year Junior Carnival fast approaching. I’m excited to see what our teams can do!
