We are pleased to announce that the Norwood Basketball Club has appointed Will Smith to our newly created role of NBL1 General Manager. Will was headhunted specifically for the role by the board. Will becomes the only full time NBL1 General Manager in Adelaide signalling the commitment the Norwood Basketball Club has to its senior program.

I look forward to working with the biggest basketball club in South Australia and improving basketball on and off the court in all aspects. We want to provide services, pathways and development for coaches and players throughout the club.”
As the NBL1 General Manager, Will’s responsibilities will include:
- Implementation of the club’s NBL1 strategy
- Creating and managing the NBL1 team budgets (in conjunction with NBC Board)
- Overall responsibility for the recruitment of local players, imports and coaching staff
- Working with the NBC board to develop and implement a comprehensive sponsorship strategy for the club and NBL1 programs
- Day to day management of all NBL1 coaches and players
- NBL1 Game day management and promotion
As well as working within the NBL1 program, Will also will be responsible for:
- Elite junior player development programs (pathway to NBL1, College &/or Europe)
- Coaches development program with NBC (pathway to NBL1 and division 1 & 2 coaches)
- Identifying and assisting with the recruitment and the placement of the division 1 & 2 coaches across the junior club
- Managing all of the NBC senior programs (U23s, Senior Men & Women)
Will comes to us with a huge amount of basketball experience both locally and overseas and is a well respected part of the basketball community.
His previous roles include:
- Premier League Head Coach and Player – Eastern & Forestville
- Various Head Coaching roles, including 2020 SA Schools Champion Nazareth College
- Academy Head Coach and Technical Director
- NBA China coach
- Working with BSA in numerous roles
- Holds an MBA and a teaching degree
